Fruit of Our Labor
Despite the fact that we've been here in AZ for over a year and a half now, we haven't had a single piece of (edible) fruit grow on any of our trees. This year it looks like me may just be getting some fruit after all: Apricots! We're very excited about this! This is literally the fruit of our labor--all of our hard work taking care of our backyard is paying off!
Anyone know of any good apricot recipes??

Oops....!
Gabe's hair was getting long again (I HATE long hair on boys) so I decided to give him a quick little hair cut. I guess I got a little scissor-happy and cut of too much. His squirming and my fear of cutting his ear off made for one awful haircut. Oops! My poor Gabe! Should I cut more off his left side (so the sides are at least even) or just leave it so I'll only have one side that looks horrible? Either way, I'm glad hair grows back!
Gabe's Birthday Party
I know its over two weeks late, but I might as well post it or I never will. This will probably be my longest post EVER!I threw Gabe a birthday party the Saturday (March 27th) before his actual birthday (the next Saturday was General Conference). I was a lot of work but I think it turned out to be really fun! It was duck-themed as you all know. I ordered the plates and napkins off 1st wishes.com. Then I made these cute white chocolate ducks from a candy mold I bought at Joanne's (they were super easy!)
I started off with some games, the first one was a who-knows-Gabe-best game and whoever got the most correct got a prize. The next game I made up pretty much all on my own (a fact which I am very proud of, thankyouverymuch). I filled a bunch of plastic eggs with candy and in some of the eggs, a strip of paper. On those papers were silly actions (things that Gabe laughs at when Erik or I do them) for the person to do for Gabe. I hid these all over the yard and had everyone go pick up as many eggs as they could (yes...an Easter egg hunt).
Whoever got one of the strips of paper had to perform the silly action written on it. I numbed them from most embarrassing to least embarrassing and whoever got most embarrassing got first pick of the prizes, second most embarrassing second pick, and so on. Here are the videos:
#6-bark Like a dog
#7-quack like a Duck

And here's Gabe's cake which he promptly tore apart. I think its cute how he went for the beak first:

Then we had some yummy food: chicken sandwiches, buffalo wings, bean dip, artichoke dip, fruit, cheese, and the like.
Next, the presents! Lots of nice gifts for Gabe!

Last but not least, the cake! Here's the cake I made for the party. Its chocolate cake with fudge frosting and the top layer is a big rice crispy treat!

Gabie Walks!
Here is proof that Gabriel walks! He is in the early stages and still a little apprehensive, but he's getting better and better everyday! I'm so excited that he's starting to walk. I know it's silly to be this excited...he has the rest of his life to walk and I'm sure I'm not going to like it when I'm chasing him all over the place!
He's so cute because he gets all excited and starts going too fast for his skills. I love my silly little Gabe!

Some Videos of Gabe
Here are some cute videos of Gabe (taken around March 18 or so). Enjoy!
"Helping" Mommy with the dishes
Gabe laughs whenever I tell him no. But I admit I was just playing around with him toward the end.
Oh so cute!
